Sailing in Bunbury

I had the pleasure of enjoying some sailing last Sunday at the Koombana Bay Sailing Club in Bunbury. As it was the first time I had been sailing I actually enjoyed it a heck of a lot. It’s great seeing the spinnaker go up and be filled with breeze. What a gorgeous day it was.

WA PGA – 2nd Round

MC Nathan Uebergang (+4) 80 68

After a disastrous first round I had a fair crack during the second round to try and turn things around and make the cut. I got it to -6 through 11 holes but I just couldn’t keep it going for the 18. The killer is I’m still not hitting it consistent enough off the tee to keep the momentum going and let my short game shine.

WA Open – Final Round

55th Nathan Uebergang (+8) 74 68 71 75

Whew. A few late birdies on the back nine on the 2nd day snuck me in for the weekend ride. And what a ride it was. I need less stress… 🙂

WA Open – Practice Round

Man o man is it good to be back playing on the Australasian Tour. Freshly cut grass… birds chirping… It feels like forever since they’ve had an event (since February I think) so it was enjoyable playing the members pro-am on Tuesday in preparation for the first round on Thursday. There were lots of positive signs during Tuesday’s hit out, I scored really well and I feel I have a good game plan to tackle this course.

It was also great to see some of the lads I hadn’t seen around for a while. Happy golfing hey!

What’s coming up?

The start of October has proven to be a period for some good practice and things seem to be going well. This came about as I narrowly missed out on getting starts in the Korean Open and Midea China Classic on the OneAsia tour. The Midea is being played now as we speak. I ended up being about 4th reserve for both events so it was an anxious wait before each event to see whether or not I’d get in. Although I’m disappointed to miss out on such good events, the practice has been worth while.

Now I have another week of preparation before the Australian summer of golf swings into gear. I will go on a five week stretch starting with the WA Open in Perth. I’m also hoping I’ll get a start in the Australian Masters which would be a great boost to the trip as all the other events are tier 2 tournaments:

28 Oct 10 – 31 Oct 10 John Hughes Geely Nexus Risk Services WA Open The Western Australian Golf Club, WA
04 Nov 10 – 07 Nov 10 WA PGA Championship Bunbury Golf Club, WA
11 Nov 10 – 14 Nov 10 JBWere Masters Victoria Golf Club, VIC
18 Nov 10 – 21 Nov 10 Cellarbrations NSW PGA Championship Wollongong Golf Club, NSW
25 Nov 10 – 28 Nov 10 NSW Open hosted by Nathan Green The Vintage Golf Club, NSW

If any of you have played Riverlakes before, it’s not good going left on that 10th hole. It’s an easy way of racking up an 8 and slowing down the day.

I’ll have a little break before coming back for the Brisbane pro-ams at the high quality golf clubs (Virginia, Royal Queensland, Indooroopilly and Brisbane).

Wow, snuck up a few places today. I didn’t hit a fairway until the 15th hole but my chipping and putting was fantastic. As long as I can get a swing I can score. I will have to sort out my woods but my putting is phenomenal at the moment! So that’s a real positive.
