Today was a good finish to a successful week of pro-ams in Adelaide. I played well and had consistent results across all the events. Although the prize money was low for these pro-ams we got to play some stunnnnning golf courses. Royal Adelaide and Kooyonga Golf Club are simply world class. Unbelievably good. I could live in Adelaide and play these tracks all the time.
So I now head back home for a final week of preparation before I leave for my first event in Japan. The feeling of anticipation is fantastic and I feel good about my game. The first event I will be playing in is a Challenge Tour event, the Novil Cup at the J Classic Golf Club, south of Osaka. It’s a three day event worth ï¿¥20,000,000 and should be ideal preparation for the start of the Japan Tour season which kicks off with the Token Homemate Cup, April 16.

Talk about not having any problems making birdies at the moment. I managed to squeeze in seven of them today. Shame about the rest, but anyway…

A nice little start to the South Australian swing 🙂 It was also a course record today, the first course record I’ve had on tour.

The Audi Australian 4B is a unique event where each amateur is paired with a professional for the four rounds in a 4BBB format. The professional in the winning team gets to take home a brand spanking new Audi. The amateur wins an all expenses paid trip to one of the majors.
Some serious burglars are around for this event. The handicap police need to be on the lookout 🙂
Results are on the PGA website.

At the recent QLD Golf Awards Night, Nathan Uebergang was awarded the QLD Von Nida Rookie of the year for outstanding play during the 2008 season, his rookie season on the QLD Sunshine Tour. The award goes to the rookie who shows exemplary play and a commitment towards all other pro-am activities including junior clinics.
During 2008 Nathan won 3 pro-ams in QLD and finished the season 10th on the Callaway Order of Merit.
He was delighted to receive the award. “It’s always an honour to receive an award recognizing your achievements, but to win an award named after the great Norman Von Nida…. it’s a real buzz. He was a golfing legend, one of my heroes. One of my earliest golfing memories was a speech Norman Von Nida was giving at Indooroopilly GC. I came across this gathering by accident so I stood just inside the door and listened to every story he had to tell, about the golf swing and touring the world as a professional. At the end of the talk I was able to get a photo with him. It was just fantastic.”
A “vacuum” is the space between your ears that becomes entirely void of matter once you set foot on the golf course.
