FINAL ROUND
Overall I am pleased with how the tournament went. I didn’t hit it well on the last day but I minimized the mistakes and kept myself in the action. Probably the coolest thing about today was being part of the presentations in Japan for the first time, even though I didn’t win the event. I ended up getting the longest driving average for the week which had a bonus prize of 500,000 YEN. A very nice little surprise to end the week.
2ND ROUND
I’m pumped with how I finished the round today. After I birdied 13 (4th hole of the day) I then hit it to five feet on the 14th… but I three putted!! Goodness my head was spinning….. Probably from all the blood that was pumping to it at that stage 😈 … 😉 . That could have derailed me, but I did hit a good putt so I told myself to keep trusting what I was doing and stay patient. Then on 16, which is a par 3 surrounded by water, my tee shot was terrible but it somehow stayed up on the bank two foot outside the water hazard. That was pretty much the turning point. Even though I bogeyed the next, I started rolling off a bunch of birdies after that.
We’re staying 75 mins from the course which can really drag out the days. We left at 10:45 am and got back at 9:30 pm. I’m looking forwards to a good night sleep.
There’s nothing like spending some time on one of those awesome massage chairs in the locker room. They are such good quality the Japanese models. The massage nodules really give your back a good massage:

Man, the courses in Japan just keep getting better! Each has had it’s unique characteristics which would appeal to golfers based on their personal preferences but, in saying that, a true golfer can appreciate each golf course by the challenge it poses to them and the game they bring to the course on a given day.
The North Country Golf Club is situated in Hokkaido, a providence in northern Japan more known for it’s ski resorts.
The North Country Course has the most mown grass I’ve ever seen on a golf course. The grounds keepers would work long hours to keep the rough cut to a reasonable length. Even though there are acres of rough, the fairways are quite narrow and require precision driving. When you reach the green you will still face a stiff examination of your short game on the sloping slick greens.
Yet again has the Japan Tour presented a course in immaculate condition. Not only is the course great but the practice facilities and hospitality areas are fantastic. I’m looking forward to this venue…. One shot at a time…..

Today was the best I’ve struck the ball in ages. It felt great to have the irons coming out strong again.
I played the final round with Terry Price. It’s always nice to have a hit with guys who have won at the highest level and learn what you can from their game.
Todays round gives me good momentum heading into the next two events in Japan. I leave first thing in the morning for the Nagashima Shigeo Invitational Sega Sammy Cup.

It felt like I was removing some rust today after having a small holiday last week. In the end I was pretty happy to shoot +3 after being +8 with five holes to go.

It’s been a rough couple of weeks on the course. To say I’m disappointed with my results is an understatement. I’m doing some good things out there but not often enough and the results are showing the inconsistency. It’s time to go home, sort my head out, start again and get ready for the next trip. I feel some good golf is just around the corner.
A re-rank occurs after this event. Given my slow start to the season I shouldn’t move to many places from my current rank.

I didn’t waste much time with this one. These clips are footage of my new stance position and footwork. I worked on getting rid of my pigeon toe setup so the left foot can roll to the inside through impact which should greatly improve my left hip action on the way down.
Jim, I think you’ll like it:

That’s enough… now it’s time for a swing change. My ball striking sucks. I’m going to turn my toes outwards. No more pigeon toed setup! 😉 I’ll work on it and go to the Mizuno Open from there.
Henry and I will head to Tokyo for a couple days and then head down to Osaka for the Mizuno Open on Monday.
