It was good to put a new swing change into play. I’ve only been working on the change since Sunday so I’ve got to expect it to take a little time to gel.
Spring Valley GC is a very enjoyable golf course and is in fantastic condition for the event, even given the extremely high temperatures. It would have to be one of the most underated golf courses in the Melbourne area. The scoring is quite impressive too considering the temperature was 45*C for the first two rounds. It was sadening to see all the possums lying around the course that couldn’t handle the heat. Poor animals.

It was disapointing not to finish top 5 as that would have guaranteed me starts in the Aus PGA Tour events next year. I did end up getting top 35 which grants players Aus PGA Tour Membership for 2009 but no guaranteed starts. So now my whole focus for the 2009 season shifts right back to Japan 😀

Four spots were available. -4 ended up being the number needed to qualify.
So now it’s time to get ready for Japan!!

It’s great to be on fast bent greens again and get away from the Queensland bermuda courses for now.
Overall my ball striking was nice and it continues to get better.
The pro-ams have basically wound up and the Summer season of events are about to begin. I’ve had a little bit of time at home now to prepare for the end of year events.
On Tuesday I will be heading over to Perth for the WA Open (Pro-am) and WA PGA (VNT Tour). It’s then off to Sydney for the NSW PGA (VNT Tour). After that I head straight over to Japan for the Third Stage of Japan Tour School, just outside Tokyo.
How I play over the coming month will determine what events I will be playing in when the AUS PGA Tour events start in late November. So, all going well, the schedule will look like this:
23-24 Oct Aspen Group WA Open Championship, Cottesloe Golf Club
30 Oct-2 Nov Oceanique WA PGA Championship, The Cut – Port Bouvard
6-9 Nov NSW PGA Championship, Riverside Oaks Golf Club
11-14 Nov Japan Tour Qualifying Tournament – Stage 3
27-30 Nov Australian Masters, Huntingdale Golf Club
3-8 Dec Japan Tour Qualifying Tournament – Final Stage
11-14 Dec Australian Open, The Royal Sydney Golf Club
Bring it on. Time for a summer of fun.

It’s a steady finish to what was an enjoyable rookie season on the QLD Troppo Tour. The Howeston Pro-am was the last event on the QLD Pro-am 07/08 calendar.
Also, there was a long drive competition held after today’s play and I’m glad to say I came through with the goods to pick up the $300 prize. I just snuck it in by a couple metres…. ok, 30 metres haha.
I’ll finish 10th on the QLD Order of Merit which will allow me to play any QLD Pro-ams I want to during the upcoming season. It’s a nice thing to know, but obviously that isn’t going to be much of an issue as I’ll be playing in Japan next year 😉

I never imagined winning a pro-am by having a bogey, bogey, triple, towards the start of the round!
But sure enough, after the first six holes I then went absolutely mental. Racking up an eagle, 7 birdies and another bogey.
It was just a crazy day and a win that I am proud of as I stuck to my game plan and never gave up on the round despite the start.
We’ve now got one more pro-am on the QLD Sunshine Circuit, then that’s it for the pro-ams this year.
